Recently, there have been reports across Japan of fraudulent messages impersonating hotels, accommodation providers, or online booking platforms. These messages may be sent via WhatsApp, other messaging apps, or email and may ask recipients to “confirm a reservation,” “re-enter credit card information,” or make an “urgent payment.”
These messages may also contain links that redirect users to fraudulent websites designed to look like legitimate accommodation booking websites or services.
We will never contact guests via WhatsApp or other messaging apps to request reservation confirmation, payment, or credit card information.
If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from us, please take the following precautions:
- Do not open or click any URLs or links included in the message.
- Do not enter your credit card details or any personal information.
- Do not reply to the message.
We are currently investigating the situation and its possible causes, including reviewing the external services used to handle reservation-related information.
We are also taking the necessary security measures to protect our guests and their information.
Please remain cautious of any suspicious messages claiming to be from MITSUWAYA.
